Satan's Tactic

Last week, the kids and I were reading in Ezekiel 28 about the city of Tyre. It was a beautiful city and did much trading. But Ezekiel prophesied against this city because of it's pride. In the commentary, it mentioned Satan becomes whom the proud are really following. That was a wake up call for me. Think about it, Satan didn't want to follow God but do things his own way. He didn't want to submit or be a follower of Christ. Christ gave up His rights and came to serve and save the lost.

This got me thinking about the times we can be wrong as parents. There are days when we can loose patience. We don't want to admit we were wrong to our kids because we don't want to loose the respect of our kids or disappoint them. Then I thought about how sometimes kids can make up excuses for what they do wrong so they don't disappoint us parents. The kids and I both realized we had been deceived by Satan and weren't in true submission to Christ, if we can't humble ourselves by living in pride. It was an eye opener and helped us both understand each other a little better. Pride has no place in a believers life. It also made us realize that we should just say; "Sorry, I was wrong". Its quick, easy and keeps the truth being lived out with no cover-up.

Also, as followers of Christ we are to forgive, just as He forgives us. We both agreed that we actually think higher of each other and we keep a respect for each other more when we admit where we are wrong. Interesting tactic Satan was trying to use on us with pride. He would love to rob, steal and destroy many of our relationship in our life. But the truth set us free. :-)

Mat 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow Me.

A Day to Rejoice

Well today is a day for great rejoicing. My friend Kim had her surgery last week and for the most part, all went well. This morning I found out that the pathology report came back negative for any cancer spreading into her lymph. I am praising God!!!! She won't have to have chemo either!

Thank you Lord for this trial because we know that all of this was for good. (Romans 8:28) I am so thankful that the hardest part is over. It will take months for reconstructive surgery to finish up with this trial but the cancer is gone now! Thank you Father.

"I entrust my spirit into Your hand. Rescue me, Lord, for You are a faithful God." Psalm 31:5

Be glad in the Lord

I haven't wrote on my blog for awhile but I feel led to today.

One of my closest friends found out she has breast cancer in Oct and is undergoing a double-mastectomy today. As I write, she is being injected with a nuclear dye. I have been praying intensely for her to the point of not having any more words to say to the Lord, but feeling as if I want to keep praying for her. I love her so.

Thankfully we both love the Lord and we know that He is there. Thankfully we can have confidence in His control over all things and His abilities. Thankfully we can trust in His promises of a future and a hope. Thankfully His will prevails for our good whatever that ends up being. Thankfully we know that we can be glad in trials because there is great joy that lies ahead of us.

This is one of those times when I feel I am unable to do enough and feel helpless to do much from over 3000 miles away. I am thankful she knows my heart and that I love her. What an inspiration she has been in my life.

I want to post a few scriptures that I am leaning on during all of this.

Psa 121:7-8 The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.

1Pe 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.

Jer 46:28 Do not be afraid.... My servant, for I am with you," says the LORD. "

1Pe 4:12-13 Dear friends, don't be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in His suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing His glory when it is revealed to all the world.

Please keep Kim in your prayers as she goes through the next several months of recovery and reconstructive surgery.
