Our Hope

In Hosea 2:15, God says "I will......transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope.”

We were made for the Lord. He has a purpose for us here on earth and we are to submit our will to His. We are being prepared for a wonderful place called Heaven. If we aren’t careful, we can be loaded down daily with all sorts of choices and get caught up in the decisions, trying to please people. Most of us want to be responsible to our job, family, church and other things. The more we are keeping our focus on the world and its crisis’s, we can get so distracted from being in the spirit of the Lord.

It is easy to see how we could get into valleys of trouble because of where we live- the world. Troubles will come, whether it is because we made a poor decision or because of the enemy in this world who likes to cause havoc. Either way it is important to keep our thoughts and view of everything with the Lord in mind. It is up to our will to make the effort to set aside time for the Lord each day.

Did I make the choice to sit at the feet of Jesus today and let him have His way with me? Am I doing what is pleasing to the Lord? Is this choice going to make a difference for eternity? Will I cause someone to stumble or harm someone in this? Am I stifling the Holy Spirit? Am I being uplifting and loving towards others with my words and actions or am I thinking of what I want for myself?

Lets' just say that you are taking time with the Lord daily, hearing from Him in His Word and life still deals you troubles. Isn't it awesome to know that God will transform trouble into a gateway of hope for you? This gateway of hope will not be in things of this world but in the one who is trust worthy. God will take the bad and make it good and He will be the only one worthy of all the praise and honor. As we hope in him alone, our relationship and devotion for God will deepen into a sweetness that restores our soul and strengthens our relationship with him.

“So God has given both His promise and His oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.” Heb 6:18

Trust God with everything, in everything, and through everything.

Closer to Him

"... Love the LORD your God, walk in all His ways, obey His commands, hold firmly to Him, and serve Him with all your heart and all your soul." Jos 22:5

Wow! This verse tells us mountains of information. After all that Christ chose to do on our behave and how He came to save us while we were still sinners, surely our hearts would want to respond in appreciation. But this verse breaks it all down for us. It seems so simple and one would think that of course we would do these things but the Lord knows our tendencies. Our tendencies are to go our own ways so He put it all out there for us.

1. Love God.
2. Walk in His ways.
3. Obey Him.
4. Hold to Him.
5. Serve Him with all you've got.

Notice how all these actions will express whom we adore and what is most important in our life. Pray for the Holy Spirit to lead you in a baby step today that will bring you one step closer to Him.

Please God

"Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever." 1John 2:15-17 NLT

We are to love people, they are meant to be eternal. Jesus came to save us sinners and give us eternity as a free gift. All we need to do is ask for forgiveness and accept Him in our heart. Once we pray to receive Christ, He sends the first installment of the Holy Spirit as part of our inheritance. The love of things like houses, cars, clothes and other toys, are a waste of our time here on earth. Of course these things are fun & useful & God can use us in all sorts of socio-economic settings as He sees fit. But God has a plan for all of us here on earth. Turn to His word daily to hear the Lords sweet words of love and wisdom on how to live your life. Don't listen to the ways of man for they are foolish when compared to the Lords. Seek wisdom and it will be given to you.
